A Conversation with Robert Cailliau

Robert Cailliau, along with Tim Berners-Lee, co-developed the World Wide Web decades ago.  Without his work, the Internet as we know it today probably wouldn’t exist.  So needless to say, when he speaks, people tend to listen.

The folks at TechCrunch recently snagged an interesting interview with him in which he opines about several topics of modern web development, including open standards and compliance to them, mobile hardware, and privacy.  Given all the recent discussion about Facebook’s complete disregard for personal privacy, Cailliau raises some interesting points about signing up for social web services and ownership or control of an individual’s personal information.  Check out 5:45 on the time scale for this discussion.
