Rocketfish WirelessHD Adapter is the “Best Buy”…

So you’re finally ready to take the plunge.  You’ve saved up enough cash to buy a “state of the art” big screen TV, cleared the perfect spot on your wall to mount it, and sent invitations to friends for it’s inaugural party.  As you eagerly look forward to years of TV viewing bliss, you fail to account for one of the most often overlooked aspects of home theater design – the cabling.  So you mount the TV to your wall, only to disappointingly discover your grand vision failed to account for the wires, power and HDMI (at least), dangling from behind the screen.

This is a scenario often encountered by those wanting to wall mount their TV’s.   While cables can be routed through the internals of a wall, it’s a project many novices fail to attempt, rather settling for unsightly hanging cables strung between their various devices.  While the prospects of wireless power transmission, such as that being actively developed by Sony, could instantly eliminate the need for a power cable, its large scale implementation is years away. But, wireless HDMI technology exists today, allowing the transmission of a brilliant 1080p high definition signal without the need for an annoying cable.

Rocketfish WirelessHD AdapterWhile there are several companies developing wireless HDMI products, Best Buy recently introduced its Rocketfish branded WirelessHD adapter.   The device, which includes (2) 4′ HDMI cables and mounting brackets, wirelessly transmits 1080p video at 60Hz and 7.1 channel surround sound over spans of up to 30 feet.   But, like other wireless HDMI devices, the convenience associated with this technology carries a steep price tag. With an MSRP of $600, the Rocketfish WirelessHD adapter is cheaper than much of its competition, but is still prohibitively priced for many of those in need of its decluttering awesomeness.
