Let’s face it…some people just are not happy. And I’m guessing that based on modern medical practices for those suffering from chronic sadness, this little invention is NOT the cure. In fact, its aversion therapy based pain inducing stimulus to the back of the head might just push an otherwise stably sad person into the upper echelons of some far more disturbed psychiatric condition.
Ironically called “The Happiness Hat“, the idea behind the hat is simple. Upon detecting a frown, a sharp spike is forced into the back of its wearer’s head and only withdrawn when the frown is “turned upside down”. I suspect the emotional anguish caused by having to wear this thing would be enough of a deterrent against frowning, but what do I know about behavioral therapy? Fortunately, this is just a proof of concept, but check out the disturbing video below.
