I couldn’t decide whether to file this one under “Cool or Annoying” or “Ideas that seemed better on paper”, so I put it under both. While the idea behind the Homefinder flashing bulb may seem like a good one, it’s really not. By installing the $11 device into any standard lightswitch controlled lightbulb socket, homeowners can initiate a 20 minute blinking sequence by twice turning the lightswitch on and off. While the blinking light, intended to make your home stand out amongst its peers, acheives its goal perfectly, it does so in a manner similar to an attention starved class clown. I mean seriously, in an age of cell phones and GPS, there are about a million ways to better direct people to your house that won’t make your neighbors go looking for a BB gun.
