There’s nothing like the “big screen” experience. Unfortunately, that “big screen” isn’t always conveniently available. Oh sure, you could whip out your dual screen laptop on that cross country flight, instantly creating enemies with the people sitting next to you. But wouldn’t it be better just slip on a pair of “special” sunglasses, sit back, and enjoy the show, well within the confines of your own personal space?
While video eyewear has been around in one form or another for years now, the headsets typically look more like weird virtual reality goggles than inconspicuous glasses. Vuzix, in an effort to dispel this trend, recently released and is now shipping the Wrap 310 series of portable video eyewear. Displaying a virtual 55″ screen viewed at 10 feet, the device looks like a standard pair of sunglasses. It supports multiple means of video input, including that from composite, VGA, component, iPod, and iPhone sources – even offering compatibility with 3D content. The coolness and convenience of these things is well worth the $250 MSRP.
