SmartLeaf PC really turns the kitchen into the household hub…

SmartLeafOne of the coolest things about technology is seeing how companies implement it in different and novel ways, such as Asus’ soon to be released Eee Keyboard or Fujitsu’s Q1500 ESPRIMO mini PC.  Now, a company called Originatic has patented a unique wall mountable PC kiosk that would be perfect as a hub in any connected home.

The SmartLeaf PC features a fully functioning PC packaged into a slim, wall mountable enclosure with flip-up keyboard and optional touchscreen.  The PC is highly customizable to suit the specific needs of the environment into which it is installed.  Its durable construction and splash proof design make it ideal for use in a kitchen environment, especially since the kitchen typically serves as the hub of the modern home.

While most people use laptops in the kitchen that sit at the ergonomically incorrect counter top level, the height of the laptop keyboard and display can place unnecessary strain on the user’s wrists when typing and neck while viewing the screen.  Mounting the SmartLeaf to the wall eliminates these ergonomic concerns.

While wall mounted PC’s aren’t necessarily a new idea, this implementation of it is attractive, functionally complete, and carries a moderate starting price of just under $2000.  It’s form factor is well suited for specific environments, a requirement of PC manufacturers that’s surely to increase as the allure of futuristic homes and businesses becomes mainstream.
