iTwin Cableless Remote PC Connection

iTwinAs if there weren’t enough products with a lowercase “i” as the first letter of their name, today iTwin debuted its cableless remote USB PC connection solution.  Connecting two remote computers via the Internet for the purpose of file sharing typically falls on the shoulders of software, such as the Remote Desktop protocol or the suite of software offered by Citrix.  While software syncing solutions can adequately link two remote PC’s, they typically require complicated setup procedures by those with advanced knowledge of networking and information technology.

iTwin aims to bring cableless remote PC connections to the masses via its two part USB adapter.  The device is advertised as a USB cable without the cable.  The user attaches one end of the double sided male-male USB device to a USB port on their PC and selects what files they’d like shared with the remote PC.  Then the unused USB plug is separated from the iTwin so that it can be plugged into a remote PC anywhere in the world.  Once connected, the two PC’s automatically link up via the Internet granting access to the shared content.

The device is unique because it eliminates the need for any advance setup or complicated instructions.  The hardware takes care of everything, leaving a seamless and effortless user experience.  Additionally, the iTwin encrypts the shared data stream for added security.  Although not available yet, the company hopes to sell the device for $99 in the first half of 2010.
