ASUS Eee Keyboard Releasing in October…

ASUS Eee KeyboardThis has to be one of the coolest product announcements to cross the Tech Clicker desk in a while (well at least in our two weeks of existence).  The Asus Eee Keyboard is a fully functional desktop PC smashed into the form factor of…wait for it…a keyboard.  Having been premiered at CES 2009, only now is ASUS committing to an October 2009 launch date of the mid-$400 device.  While there are other unique ways to carry your desktop computer with you, nothing seems quite as unique as this.

Building on ASUS”s line of Eee netbook PC’s and similarly powered by an Intel Atom processor, the Eee keyboard offers a video connection to TV’s or monitors via wireless HDMI.  The built in 5″, 800×480 pixel touchscreen serves as a dual platform for quick launch icons and touchpad pointing device.  Obviously not meant for processor intensive tasks, the Eee Keyboard would make a great addition to any home theater as a device to bridge the gap between online video content and the more traditional act of “watching TV”.
